Entry Update

We have been in our house for almost 6 years.
When we moved in we tried to match the style of the model home
we fell in love with that fateful afternoon so long ago.
The problem was it was a bit dark for me.
Don't get me wrong it was beautiful,
but it never felt like it was my style.

Now after all this time I am finally shifting back to a style that makes
my heart happy with it's pops of color and displays of things that make me smile!

Since our budget is super, super tight
all redecorating has to be done on the cheap.
Thrift stores that have 50% off sales, coupons, and spray paint are my best friends!

I was able to get the five frames for $5.20
the spray paint for $3.87
(Rust-Oleum~Gloss Seaside and Flat White-already had)
the mini clothes pins for $1.97 (Hobby Lobby coupons for the win)
the plant for $3.48 (Walmart)
the flower pot and coaster for $2.17 (99 Cent Store)
Photo prints $1.69 (Costco 5x7s for $0.39 each!!)

We had the clock, the candle holder, plate for Kenny's change and keys,
and the beautiful fire engine already
(From my beloved Mam.  She was adamant we take it home
with us on one of our visits before she passed away).

So for less than $19
I was able to update our entry and give it some personality!

Totally worth spending a little of my "egg money"
to bring some personality to our entry!

Hopefully this summer we will be able to repaint the interior to a much lighter shade,
but that is a big project and big expense
so we will have to see.
Fingers crossed we can make it happen!!

What do you think?
What is your favorite way to update a space?

Inspired

A very dear friend asked me to make something special for her daughter for Christmas.  You see Miss T is getting a play kitchen and every busy girl needs an apron for her kitchen work.  The texts and Pinterest boards were filled with ideas.

We finally settled on this as an inspiration...

Super cute, but the felt wasn't working for me.

So I did what I always do, I put my own spin on it!

I came up with two beautiful princess aprons that will be sure to be a delight for Miss T and her kitchen adventures!

I used solid broadcloth fabric and lots of ruffles to make the cuteness pop.  The ties were replaced with little fingers friendly velcro straps and elastic was added to the neck line, so she will be able to put it on independently.  I was so pleased and so was Miss T's mama.  I love being able to help people bring their visions to life!

You can follow me on Pinterest...you never know what I'll make next!

Just for Fun

A while back we saw the coolest patches for holey jeans...
monster mouths!

I added it to my project list and today was the day!!

Loving them!

I'd be rockin' them too if I had some holey jeans...

Finishing Projects

K and I love doing projects around the house. Our problem is that we both get distracted by the million other things we want to do, so sometimes (ok...often) projects don't get finished in a timely manner. Well I think we are recovering from our ADD behaviors because we finished a bunch of projects over the past couple of weeks! YAY for us! So today I want to share some finished projects.

I showed you all the great shelves K built for me, well now they are fully stocked and being put to use! Everything I wanted in the storage room has a place. I. LOVE. IT!!!

Next I was able to redo a SA find to make a towel rack for the monkeys since a towel bar DOES NOT WORK for 3 boys! It went from this-

to this!

Cool Huh?!? They like it MUCH better! My littlest interior designer (N) asked for the openings to both be chalkboard. Our boys are not shy with their opinions on my changes to their spaces. I just need to remember to bring home some chalk and decide on what color to paint their bathroom!

My last completed project for today has actually been redone before, but it needed it again since we moved into the new house. This little side table was a yard sale find by my mom years ago. I shabbied it up back then so it would go with my bedroom. Well in it's new spot in the breakfast nook it did not fit with my black finishes. I FINALLY decided to change it up! I love how it turned out, right down to the new little knob!

Before

After

So there you have it! I promised I would share when I was done! I am pretty happy with how the changes turned out!

Head on over to Metamorphosis Monday to see how everyone else is changing things up!

Until next time,
