Menu Plan for the Week 1-29-12

We're headed into a busy week.  The big kid will have his birthday on Wednesday and we have optometry appointments this week too!  I am also helping my sister organize her house before her baby shower.  Along with the normal payday busy-ness I am sure to be hopping this week!

I am knocking out my monthly menu plan so I can get my grocery list ready to go.  I love getting most of the things we need all at once, it saves me so much time during the month!  Thank goodness for a big freezer and a wonderful pantry!

I had a such great, productive weekend.  Worked on a bunch of sewing projects and finished all but one little item.  I wish I could spend every day sewing and creating!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Here is what we have planned to eat for this week:

Breakfasts: Cereal, Oatmeal, Biscuits, Muffins, Pancakes, French Toast, Waffles, Fruit

Lunches: Ham or PB & J Sandwiches, Meat and Crackers, Leftovers, Fruit or Veggies, String Cheese, Hard Boiled Eggs, Granola Bars, Fruit Leather, Homemade Chewy Bars

Just for Fun

A while back we saw the coolest patches for holey jeans...
monster mouths!

I added it to my project list and today was the day!!

Loving them!

I'd be rockin' them too if I had some holey jeans...

Menu Plan for the Week 1-22-12

I haven't post our menu in a while, but we have definitely been using it!  I love having all the decisions made before I have a long lovely day at school!  Makes my life much more simple.

Nothing big going on this week, just trying to finish up projects.  I've been making progress, which is a nice feeling :)  Next week is the big kid's birthday, so I made cake balls as a trial for his treats.  Not sure what he wants yet, but it was yummy practice!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

On the Night Stand

I have been reading like crazy over the last year.  We rediscovered the library last summer and I love that I can request just about anything!  Since buying a lot of books is not in my budget right now, the library has been a huge blessing.  It has also save me from purchasing a couple of books that I wound up not loving :)  So I thought I would share what I'm reading right now and see if anyone has any suggestions for me!

From the top I just got Guernsey  Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society...I am really enjoying it!

Next is Money Saving Mom's Budget...so good and totally straight forward.

Then you see One Thousand Gifts by the amazingly poetic Ann Voskamp...her words are beautiful!

I am also reading Grace for the Good Girl by Emily P. Freeman...really making me think and evaluate!!

I found the Herbal Guide to Food at a junk shop...nice explanations and some recipes I'd like to try.

Decision Points has been on night stand for a while...It's like a history book, so I am really trying to take it all in.  The stories and perspective are so good!

Last but not least is one of my favorite magazines, Country Living...I love it when Amazon has the $5 deals!

So that's what I'm into right now.  I love having a stack, so I can bounce between different styles and stories.  After having to read for college and work for so many years it is really nice to be able to read things for fun again!

Until next time,

Hello 2012!

Quite frankly I was ready for 2011 to be over.  It was a rough year for me, but I learned a lot along the way.  We had too many funerals and not enough income, but we survived and maybe, just maybe came out stronger.  At least that's what I'm counting on as 2012 rolls gently into motion.

My life hasn't been all hard, it's actually been pretty good in a lot of areas.  Kenny and I continue to grown stronger in our marriage and in being a team every day.  Our boys have blossomed even more than I could have imagined!  Character and perseverance have shown up in these young men and it's been awesome to witness.

My hope for the new year is to keep on keeping on.  I am more focused in the last week on taking time to exercise and eat well.  I cannot just go through the motions anymore I need to live life on purpose.  I am trying to be more aware of all that I am doing and how that is making my life flow.

My goals this year are still milling around in my mind, but soon they will find themselves listed for all to see.  The accountability in posting my goals makes all of them seem more concrete and obtainable.  Maybe you all can be my accountability partners?!?

So today I am left with ideas and peace and hope for a fresh new year.  Another chapter in my life and many more happy days to come.

Until next time,
