Hello There!

I had no idea I would be taking the summer off from here,
but if you follow my instagram you know we've had a busy summer!

Nik just got his cast off!  He was amazing through the whole thing!
For someone that had three broken bones, he sure was tough.

We were gifted a chance to repaint the interior of the house,
so we jumped on it!

But, if you give a mouse a cookie...

Seriously the painting led to decor changes
on a budget of hardly anything!
Thrift stores, spray paint, and serious discount hunting have been good to us!

Schemes for painted kitchen cabinets and new back splashes
are floating around in our heads...

It also led to major purging and organizing!
Which translated into we need to have a yard sale...
that is happening tomorrow!
I have never been so ruthless with clearing out in my life
and it's been awesome!!!

We are in love with all the changes,
but I feel like these changes were getting us ready
for bigger changes in our lives.
Nothing official yet,
but hopes and prayers for better opportunities
could be answered in the near future!

The biggest change is that I am enlisting help to design a new blog
to combine this space with Amy's Monkeys.
I'm not sure when that will happen,
but I will keep you posted!

If you made it this far you deserve a treat!
Have a great weekend!

Until next time,

Entry Update

We have been in our house for almost 6 years.
When we moved in we tried to match the style of the model home
we fell in love with that fateful afternoon so long ago.
The problem was it was a bit dark for me.
Don't get me wrong it was beautiful,
but it never felt like it was my style.

Now after all this time I am finally shifting back to a style that makes
my heart happy with it's pops of color and displays of things that make me smile!

Since our budget is super, super tight
all redecorating has to be done on the cheap.
Thrift stores that have 50% off sales, coupons, and spray paint are my best friends!

I was able to get the five frames for $5.20
the spray paint for $3.87
(Rust-Oleum~Gloss Seaside and Flat White-already had)
the mini clothes pins for $1.97 (Hobby Lobby coupons for the win)
the plant for $3.48 (Walmart)
the flower pot and coaster for $2.17 (99 Cent Store)
Photo prints $1.69 (Costco 5x7s for $0.39 each!!)

We had the clock, the candle holder, plate for Kenny's change and keys,
and the beautiful fire engine already
(From my beloved Mam.  She was adamant we take it home
with us on one of our visits before she passed away).

So for less than $19
I was able to update our entry and give it some personality!

Totally worth spending a little of my "egg money"
to bring some personality to our entry!

Hopefully this summer we will be able to repaint the interior to a much lighter shade,
but that is a big project and big expense
so we will have to see.
Fingers crossed we can make it happen!!

What do you think?
What is your favorite way to update a space?

Coffee Date {pretty good}

If we were having coffee...
I'd tell you this week has been pretty good!

If we were having coffee...
I'd tell you {knock on wood} that my new student
 is doing so much better!!

If we were having coffee...
I'd tell you I received a sweet gift this week.
I love friends that bless me with their talent!

If we were having coffee...
I'd tell you I am in the process of a ruthless purge...
closets, cupboards, drawers,
simplifying is so good!

If we were having coffee...
I'd tell you Kenny is amazing...
he jumps on board with my crazy ideas without complaining.
We are such a good team!

My dresser inspiration...see her blog here

If we were having coffee...
I'd tell you my dresser makeover is going to be fantastic!
I've never loved the look of the dresser,
but now I think I will.
Cute and functional = love

If we were having coffee...
I'd say your turn...
how's it going with you?

Until next time,

Great Words

Meg over at whatever wrote a cute post the other day and shared a special print she had ordered. I am totally going to get one for this house, especially after all the craziness we have been in the middle of for the last year or so.

It is made by the etsy shop Studio Mela and after looking around a bit I might or might not have a long list of other prints I'd like to have for our home. I love positive affirmations so this will fit in well with this canvas I got on clearance at Target.

I figure the laundry room is the second place I see each morning, so why not make it an inspirational place to start my day!

Until next time,
