Security When Traveling

I always liked dressing the boys in matching shirts when they were little (ahem-shh don't tell-I still like it when they match at 7, 8, and 11 years old). It was something my mom did with my sister and I, so it was pretty natural to me (HI MA!).

Fast forward to traveling with little people and I decided that the boys all had to wear the same shirt when we were going to any kind of fair or amusement park. My husband said it was absolutely for security.

We can spot our monkeys in a crowd because of what they are wearing that day. Heaven forbid if any of them were ever lost or taken we would know exactly what they were wearing just by looking at the brothers.

It was pretty easy to do this for our last trip because I was able to go to Michaels (during their sale) and get them each matching t-shirts. Another tip is to let each of them pick a color, so they all feel like they have some control over what their wearing especially as they get older.

This really Works for Me! Head on over to We Are That Family to see what everyone else is up to on this WFMW!

Until next time,

  1. What a great idea! We are headed on vacation soon and that would make it easier if we go to anywhere real busy. Thanks!

  2. I haven't matched them, but I do dress our kids in bright colors. I also always try to remember to take a photo of them before we start out a day in a busy area. That was if one of them is lost I will not have to remember what they were wearing, we can look at the photo!

  3. A really cool idea. My sister does this with her boys as well. It was such a help when we went to teh water park the other day!

  4. This is such a great idea! Years ago, my husband and I used to do this when we took the children at church on field trips. It just made it easier to keep track of everyone.

  5. I do this ALL the time! lol My husband always laugh when I'm getting them ready, but sure loves it when we are counting heads! SOO much easier to remember one color than who's wearing what. :-) I do the Michael's shirts too, but I like to decorate them. It's fun to get the kids involved in this too.
